Tilly’s Eatery and Delicatessen, a beloved local restaurant, will be saying goodbye to its original owners and operators, Carol Ann Breedyk and Diane Matthiesen, after nearly five years in business.
Nestled at the intersection of Pitt and First Streets, Tilly’s started serving its European-inspired cuisine in September 2019, quickly earning a reputation for its delicious food and cozy atmosphere. Carol Ann Breedyk, owner and head chef, brought her family’s culinary heritage to Cornwall’s downtown core, creating a unique and authentic experience that won hearts all around.
With Tilly’s closing, Carol Ann wished for someone to take over the fan-favorite establishment she built. In came Once Upon a Coffee Shop, another local staple located in the McConnell Medical Centre. Debbie Poirer Burns, its owner of 13 years, was elated to be asked to take over Tilly’s at its downtown location!
Exciting news is on the horizon, as Carol Ann passes on the torch to Debbie, the newest owner and operator of Tilly’s Eatery & Delicatessen. The doors at 101 Pitt Street will reopen on June 12th, 2023, with offerings that promise to delight the senses.
As the local community prepares to say goodbye to Tilly’s as it once was, the DBIA expresses heartfelt appreciation for Carol Ann Breedyk and Diane Matthiesen’s contributions and wishes them all the best in their future endeavors.
